One of the oldest democracies in the world, founded 1291 by the unification of the three states Uri, Schwyz and Unterwalden in the region of Lake Lucerne. In 1815 Switzerland reached its present size. Today, Switzerland is a confederation of 26 cantons (states) and each of these has a considerable autonomy and its own constitution. The region of the Swiss Alps comprises about three fifths of the country.
Switzerland is a land of micro-climates, in August temperatures can reach from 12°C up to 25°C, in average. It can be very nice, but rainy days are possible. In the mountains it is often cold during night-time, therefore warm clothes are recommended.
Currency and Payment
The official currency in Switzerland is the Swiss Franc, usually indicated as CHF. Many shops, restaurants etc. also accept Euros, however, when paying in Euros the change will be in Swiss Franc. Furthermore, the exchange rate may be unfavorable. Major credit cards are accepted in hotels, most shops and restaurants.
Bank & Change
There are some cash machines at the airport nearby where you can easily get Swiss currency via credit card. There is a branch office of UBS in the arrival area of the airport (Terminal 1) which offers extended services. Opening hours (UBS) daily from 06:00 - 22:00.
Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diners Club are widely accepted at hotels, most shops and restaurants. Check with your credit card company for details of merchant acceptability and other services which may be available.
Shops are generally open from 09:00 am to 06:30 pm weekdays, 09:00 am to 04:00 pm Saturdays; closed on Sundays.
The electrical current is 230 volts - 50 Hz.

All sessions will be held in English. There is no simultaneous translation provided.

The dress code during the conference is casual.

The room rates are in Swiss Francs and will be charged in local currency, per person and per night including service charges and 7.7% VAT. Additional tourist tax of CHF 7.80 per night/person (changes reserved) will be charged separately. The guest is responsible for payment of all charges to the hotel directly upon departure.
The following rates apply for pre- and post-extra nights (max 3 nights possible):
CHF 160.00 pro person/night in a double room, including half pension
CHF 170.00 pro person/night in a single room, including half pension
CHF 195.00 per person/night in a double room for single occupancy, including half pension
Credit card details will be provided to the hotel to guarantee the hotel reservation. The credit card will only be charged in case of cancellation or no-show. Following hotel cancellation rule apply for extra nights:

All costs for additional accommodation and extras have to be paid to the hotel upon departure.
